North/northeast of the Lifepod, the Old Habitat — nicknamed the Jelly Barrens — is rough, sharp stone terrain with large dead jellyfish draped across the rocks and abandoned structures. It is primarily a lore biome, visited early for backstory on the colonists who came before, via a colonist bunker and nearby caves.
The terrain is current-friendly and a hydroelectric turbine placement spot exists a short distance south (~48 m), making it a viable early power-base location despite its desolate, eerie atmosphere. The Hammerhead and Houndgar here are minimal threats.
