The Sparse Plains are exactly what the name implies: broad, flat, thinly-populated seabed with very little terrain cover. They function mostly as connective tissue between the denser biomes — and as a killing field.
The danger of open water
The Plains’ defining feature is the absence of cover. This is prime hunting ground for the Collector Leviathan, whose sight-based chase has nothing to break against out here. Crossing the Plains is a commitment: once spotted, there is nowhere to hide until you reach the far side.
Strategy
- Plot the shortest line across before you set out.
- Cross in a vehicle, at speed, on a known heading — never wander or detour.
- Stage a safe-room base on the far edge as a bolt-hole if a Collector locks on.
