The Great Jaw, nicknamed “Clamthulu” by the development team, is an ambush-style Leviathan built around a grab-and-digest kill loop rather than a straightforward chase.
Hunting method
- Trap wires. The Great Jaw deploys filament-like trap wires across chokepoints and canyon mouths. Contact ensnares the player or vehicle.
- Capture. Once snared, the prey is reeled toward the maw.
- Gastric acid. The victim is dissolved in the creature’s digestive acid — a damage source that continues until you break free or die.
Counterplay
- Watch for the wire field before you commit to a canyon route; it is visible if you slow down and scan ahead.
- A knife or cutting tool can sever wires, but doing so under acid pressure is a race.
- The Great Jaw favours tight terrain (Crag Canyons, trench walls). Open water is safer ground if you can reach it.
